The house is defined by clean geometry and simple aesthetics. The roof is shaped by the function of each zone. The typology of the gable roof is quite common and traditional, but with a different approach to construction details, it can acquire a new modern look, both outside and inside.
After many years of using their property as a vineyard, the owners have decided that they want to spend more time in nature and this is the time to reach the full potential of the rural estate.
The house position and volume are carefully designed, in accordance with the plantations, in a manner that they won’t be shaded by the new construction.
The main aspiration for the concept design is the pursuit of synchrony between the architecture of the house and the rural landscape.
The house faces the street, but takes advantage of the southern exposure by skylights. The northern glazing is French and makes direct visual connection of each room with the yard. The open areas provide an opportunity for different types of recreation. Polished concrete flooring in the courtyard remains under the shade during the day, offering a spacious place for different types of work or rest. The open area under the roof is provided with a summer kitchen and a covered veranda – a natural continuation of the living room.
In contrast with the modest exterior, the interior offers high ceilings, free-flowing spaces and large glazing, which give a modern classy look to the place. The exposed timber structure and plywood cladding are inspired by a modern Japanese typology of construction, where simplicity, purity of form and honesty of the materials are the main points of reference in the design.
